This film is the result of a test-shoot with a self-build camera. It was the first attempt ever to take a TC scanningback and use it as a 'reality distorting' stopmotion camera.
Punch Out is the first film ever made using the 'scanmotion' technique. Scanmotion is a reality distorting technique which requires a specialized camera and a different approach to creating moving images.
The effects in this film are entirely in-camera. The camera is build from a flatbed scanner combined with a technical bellows camera. To my knowledge the only one existing that actually takes color images (search the net for scannerphotography) and the only scannercamera actually tamed enough to be allow stopmotion animation.
This film is my first tryout using this technique.
